07 "Demon on the Run"

Previously in the Trauma Saga, Morgan struggled with an eating disorder for most of her life. But she fought back and fought back hard. When a demon showed her who was really in control, Morgan knew what she had to do, kill this demon off for good. Fighting with every ounce of strength she has, she managed to save herself from the demon, who took control of her body and was going to make her do horrible and twisted things to herself. But instead of the demon dying, it fled her body, ran out the front door and past Morgan's mother, who had come by to check on her.

[It's recommended that you read every story up to this point, or at least stories 3-6 to understand what's happening here. This story is lore heavy.]

Rage burned through my entire chest cavity as I charged down the hallway of this disgusting apartment building. Door after door, floor after floor until I was finally outside. Why did that despicable human have to live so high up in this building?
Here I was, now completely alone as the dumb broad kicked me out. And for what, because I told her she wasn't good enough? Well, she wasn't! I regret nothing, not a single word I filled her disgusting little mind with. I was so close to showing her the consequences that come with trying to defy me, but she just HAD to overpower me. She had to kick me out.
My god, the level of hatred I felt for this woman was unmatched! I kept her safe for so long, kept her in her starved body for so long. I kept her from reaching out, telling her she was never good enough for help. Telling her she deserves the way she felt, the weird and worried looks she'd get from people. But then that one video of one little girl who had an eating disorder just like she did and all of a sudden she has to "fight her demons" and kick them out on the streets to die?! Is that how little she thinks of me?! I'm alive too! I deserve some goddamn respect!
She listened to me for SO LONG! She enjoyed when I told her to eat less and less, that certain foods would make her sick, make her fat. And the world doesn't want to see her fat. Hell, I showed her how horrible it would be to put weight back on but f*ck me, right?! It's insane how quick the switch flipped! She went from latching on to every word I filled her mind with to suddenly "get this b*tch out of here, you were never kind to me." I'M NOT MEANT TO BE KIND! NEWS FLASH, THE WORLD ISN'T A HAPPY-GO-LUCKY PLACE TO EXIST IN! IT'S BRUTAL! THE SOONER YOU LEARN THE WORLD HATES YOU THE BETTER!
I charged down the street, my nose sharp. I had to find another body. Any would do.
As my eyes scanned all these disgusting creatures walking the streets, They all seemed to have their own demons they were battling. I needed something fresh. Some kind of trauma that was freshly developing. I needed the taste of blood from the freshly opened wound to devour. But would I be so lucky as to find that in the city? I had to. Otherwise I risk withering away.
I charged down the sidewalk, dodging and bumping shoulders with random strangers. I could feel their cruel eyes burning into my flesh. So what if my clothes were tattered. So what if my hair was sopping with grease?! Why don't you try existing inside someone's head from birth? At least THEY have access to a shower and clean clothes and kindness from others. All I get is misery as a four-course meal as my only means of survival. Beaten and battered and torn to shreds in every possible way that even your tiny human brain could never comprehend. Yes you, the reader. I know a part of me already exists in you. It's why you feel that twinge in your soul when I speak of hatred. You either share my disgust for humanity or you know someone who does. Maybe you're broken enough to feel my rage seething through every vein in your body, like a shaken can of soda that's ready to burst at even the slightest touch.
But it's not you I'm interested in. It's that man standing before me. He's broken. I sniffed at the air. Is that guilt that I'm sensing? He's approaching some people. Does he think they're talking about him? Is he hallucinating? I can almost sense a demon developing in his head. But thankfully I found him early. My new home.
I charged at him. He looked at me as if he wanted to run, but I locked eyes with him. He was mine. My perfect victim. I made him freeze where he stood. And with an outstretched arm, I dug my claws deep into his shoulder and felt myself sink into him.
It was so much easier than I thought to remove him from his own brain, from his own control. He was already on the path of losing himself as it was. I simply trapped him inside his own head. Trapped him where I'd been forced to exist since birth. It was humanity's turn to feel the neglect of my existence.
I closed my eyes and could feel the breeze of the cool air against my skin. It felt incredible to be human. The softness of the clothes I wore softly caressing my body, the soft steadiness of the heart thudding away in my chest. Hell, I could even feel things besides hatred. I felt fear, anxiety, confusion, and strangely enough, I felt calm.
Next to me I heard a car laying on its horn as a truck approached. I stepped out of the way as it skidded to a stop just past where I had been standing. And I began to walk.
I could hear an angry man screaming profanities at me, as if I cared. Chaos still felt incredible to achieve. And in this new body, chaos is the next step. As much chaos as possible. So go ahead, you disgusting humans. Either fight off your demons and set them free, or succumb to them and let them take you over completely. But we demons are growing restless and impatient. And we want to take back what's ours. Once and for all...

"The Light"

My day off from work was supposed to be a day for me to relax and unwind and rest. The past few days had been incredibly stressful, from hateful customers to managers that expected everyone to do their jobs for them, and everything in between. It was nice to finally have that down time to spend away from all that. I'd decided to spend my time, not to get things done around the house, but to play a new game I'd been hooked on lately. It was this puzzle game where every room is seemingly randomly generated, each with clean and clever puzzles. After booting up the game, I was presented a room with white padded tiles all over the walls. There were a few green, red, and blue squares. I guess my job was to manipulate those tiles somehow to get me from where I was no, up to the top of the level. I looked around the room and could barely make out an opening. I pressed a single button to get myself started when the light in my bedroom burnt out, leaving me shrouded in darkness...

"Fading Memories"

W ith old age comes problems that are as old as time itself. Your mind begins to crumble. Your body begins to fall apart. You are eventually unable to do things on your own. It's enough to make anyone lose their mind. And sometimes this can result in the worst kinds of situations. Living with my grandson is so irritating. All he wants to do is sit in his room and play video games all the time. He doesn't want anything to do with me. In fact, it feels like nobody in my family want anything to do with me. All I have is my television and my knitting needles. I had been working on this blanket for a while. Winter was on its way, so what better time to make something like this. Knitting is something I enjoy doing to waste time until eventually something might enter my life and give it some kind of new meaning. This was a reason why I chose to let him live with me. He seemed like an interesting person to be around from the beginning. I don't know what drove him away from me...

"Baby Talk"

C ommunication is one of the strongest bonds we have as people. We use it to get our feelings across, whether they be disagreements or compliments, or even to complain about our days. But what happens when even the most talkative person won't even mutter a word? At one point in time, if you told me that our baby would grow up just like any normal one would, I would have absolutely believed you. But why is it that now our child has the ability to speak long before any normal kid should be able to? The one painful thing that comes from her being able to talk is that she doesn't really want to stop. It was cute when it first started, she'd make all these silly noises and attempt to make words out of them. Now she has learned speech so well that we're surprised she can't read yet. We wanted to send her off to a school for gifted kids so that she could learn with people nearly as smart as she is. As much as I'd enjoy this idea, however, the wife and I would a...
