Traveling down the road of life, you never know where it will lead. It may lead you down a path you never wished for, one that leads you down turns you think you can’t handle. It might lead you down paths that might seem too easy and it’ll come off as too boring for you. No matter, a path will lead you somewhere and it’s your job to see it to its end.

Going to my in-laws for a vacation wasn’t exactly what I had in mind over the summer. I wanted to go surfing or wing suit gliding like he and I had talked about, but because his dad wasn’t doing too hot, we decided to pay him a visit.
Driving down the highway, we passed many cars. We took turns reading off the license plates, seeing where they were from and the funny words their plates formed. It kept our minds vacant for a while.
As the minutes eventually dragged on to hours, we saw less and less cars passing us by, even from the other lane traveling alongside us in the opposite direction. Maybe we were approaching a less populated area.
As we drove over several hills and past trees, we saw a straight away with smoke rising in the distance. Oh lord, was that a car accident?
As we got closer, there were several cars totaled. Approaching, we slowed to a stop and got out. Why was there no officers or ambulances around to monitor the situation? I tried getting them on the phone but there was no service here. It was starting to feel like I was living in a horror movie.
Looking over the cars, the seats were all covered in blood and the bodies inside were all missing. No doors were open, nor any openings in the shattered glass big enough to fit a person through. Where did they all go? Did they just get up and walk away?
I looked to the front car that started the pileup and saw this massive gash taken out of the front windshield. It looked like someone had burst out of it and ran off.
Just then, we saw a crazed beast with blood dripping from its mouth, off to the side of the road, hiding amongst the trees. It looked hungry, and we were its next snack.
