Being stubborn is a trait that only the boldest of people possess. May it be for the benefit of themselves or others. But often times the stubbornness can lead to something more harmful them anything helpful.

The regret of not fixing the frozen pipes kicked in not too long after we were unable to take a shower or wash or clothes. My wife hasn't stopped nagging me to call someone about it.
I didn't want to call someone because there were placed in town we could do those things. I mean, we lived on a farm, we could go anywhere we wanted to out there. My wife wasn't fond of the idea. I only laughed and said that even if we call someone, nobody will be out here for a couple days because of how bad the roads are. Not to mention the backlog of customers they've got.
She finally agreed with me and said we could go to her sister's place if they needed a shower. I wasn't a fan of her sister, but I figured I'd comply.

In the next couple days, the weather outside only made things worse for us. With the wind howling as heavy snow fell, it covered power lines and eventually one of them must have gave way because we lost power.
My wife stormed out of the house after I told her I'd be able to fix it. She didn't agree. Nor did she care. She said she'd die of the cold before I'd manage to get enough power to get the heater working again. I begged to differ, but she rolled her eyes and left.
After begging me to give up on getting the power working again, to instead fine with her to stay at her sister's place until the power comes back on. As much as I liked the idea of being warm, her sister is the single most irritating person to be around. She gets angered so easily and always brings up politics.
I decided to stay. I had everything I needed to stay warm in case the power is out for a long while. Mainly a ton of blankets and some hand warmers. There's no way I wouldn't be able to make it. Not to mention I might be able to get the power working again. I had no idea how but everything else be okay.

A couple days had passed and I hadn't heard anything from my husband. I'm sure he's doing fine. His phone battery has probably drained. I figured I'd better check on him.
After making my way down there, I found the snow had nearly melted. I should've brought some stuff with me to move back in.
I looked around to the other houses and back to mine. Why did everyone have their lights on but our house? Was he sleeping?
I made my way inside and there on the couch, lay my husband, unmoving. His skin a sickly blue. He had frozen to death.
