"Weight Loss Plan"

What would you do if you discovered something that had unexpected affects? Would you go around and tell everyone you know? Or would you hide it from the world in fear of what it might do to people, especially those you love? Often times the hardest choices we make are the ones we know for certain will have dramatic affects on our lives whether we realized it or not. Which is why my decision was one of the most terrifying.
It wasn't but a few days ago when I discovered something during an experiment. You see, I'm big on chemistry. I love the idea of combining different elements and creating an accidental reaction that you have no idea how it'll turn out. There are a few chemicals you can combine that can do anything from creating an explosion to a seemingly endless amount of toxic foam.
I bring this up, not only because it fascinates me, but because I discovered a mixture that lead to a creation of something that I sort of regret creating. I can't tell you what the mixture was in fear that someone might recreate it and suffer the same fate as me.
What I had ended up creating was this substance that spilled over onto my table. Instead of using something to clean it up, Knowing the chemicals I used weren't toxic, and the smell of it was rather a pleasant one, I figured I might as well try it. I scooped a few drops onto my index finger and took a lick. It surprisingly tasted somewhat edible. It didn't have any sort of chemically after taste. In fact, it didn't have much of a taste at all other than the slightest hint of sour.
Later, as I began cleaning up my chemistry table, my stomach started to feel weird. I looked down at my pudge of a stomach. Honestly, I was definitely on the chubbier side, as I never did much besides sitting on my phone and experimenting randomly. What I noticed about my stomach shocked me. My stomach had shrunk.
It didn't make any sense to me, there's no way any sort of chemical reaction could've caused this. Perhaps it reacted with my stomach acid and caused the tissue to shrink without causing an kind of bodily harm?
I ran to the bathroom to check myself out in the mirror. I lifted my shirt, the cold air making my hairs stand up on end. I patted my belly. It was true, I had lost some weight from the mixture.
I made my way to my room and grabbed the beaker with some of the blue liquid still inside. I took a bigger sip than I had before. I was disappointed when I didn't feel anything right away. Perhaps it was something else that had caused my sudden stomach shrinkage? I carried on cleaning when that strange familiar feeling happened again in my stomach. Surely enough, I lost more weight.
How was I supposed to feel about this? I couldn't help but feel overwhelmingly happy. This drink was legitimately what the world needed as the perfect way to lose weight. I could easily become a millionaire off of this. With all the overwhelming joy inside of me, I was also terrified of what I had just created. I don't know what the proper dosage would be, and what if someone took too much, would their stomach disappear, leaving them a walking skeleton? What if it made them so thin they vanished into thin air?
With all of this in mind, I had to get rid of this stuff. But how? I decided to dump it down the drain in my bathroom sink. I dumped it down. But I stopped before the last few drops could be gone forever. I couldn't help but want some more. My stomach was growling. I needed more. I must have more. More. More. More...

01 "A Monstrous Storm"

The shadows crept in through the window is the dark clouds overtook the mid-afternoon sky. A feeling of dread and hopelessness flooded me, tying my stomach into a knot. Looking at the clouds, I saw a streak of purple lightning streaking across the sky until it crashed down somewhere along the skyline with a thunderous boom, followed shortly by the ground rumbling beneath my feet. It was jarring. what started as a regular summer afternoon was quickly turning into something dreadful. The nearby trees were all swaying lightly in the breeze as rain gradually started pouring down, eventually creating a curtain of turrential downpour that threatened to flood the streets. Another flash of light followed by another thunderous boom forced me to look away from the window. It was becoming far too real for me. The oncoming storm was becoming too much to bear. I walked back into my bedroom and sat in front of my television. There was a news guy standing before a weather map. He was po...

"Hooked"

T he summer can be the perfect time to get away, to unwind while kicking your feet into the cool water while the hot sun is beaming down on you. But what if the bright summer sky was hiding behind it something even darker? I had been waiting for today all week. They'd finally opened the stream up for fishing. I was a little upset at the fact they'd decided to raise prices, but I didn't care, it was a nice day outside and I wasn't about to waste it sitting inside when I could be fishing. With my tacklebox in hand and my fishing pole in the other, I made my way to my truck. I threw everything in the back seat. I was about to head to the driver's seat but hesitated when I thought about bringing my cooler. I had one in the back ready for fish, as well as housing some canisters of worms. But what if I brought one along for some drinks? After a few moments I decided it might not be the greatest idea. It would be too much to carry and I didn't trust anyone that...

"Tapping"

T here are some things we are all afraid of, whether or not we choose to admit it to ourselves. Perhaps you feel that the ocean is a safe place, yet when you arrive you find yourself fearing what may be swimming below you. What brushed up against your leg? Can they feel you trembling? Can they smell your fear? There I lay, in bed in an attempt to fall asleep. My television was sitting at a low volume as to not awaken me by surprise as I drift to sleep. I've had the unpleasant experience before. Tonight, I turned to my side, facing away from the harsh light of the television, yet still able to make out almost perfectly what they were saying. What was on right now was a couple arguing in a sitcom. I didn't care much for what they were saying, but the roar of the laugh track after every line or two was somewhat soothing to me. I was so close to drifting to sleep, when across the room there came a tapping on my window. I sat up and turned toward the window. It was pitch black...
